Taking three varieties of Camellia as the research object, the chlorophyll (Chl) content, soluble sugar, soluble protein and free proline were determined under three different shade treatments (CK, 20%, 60%). The results showed that with the increase of shade degree, the contents of Chl a, Chl b and the total Chl were increased. The soluble sugar was 20% shade> 60% shade>CK; The soluble protein and free proline of the varieties of Camellia under the shade treatment had expressed different. The results were that 20% shade was more suitable for the growth of the Camellia, the shade tolerance of the C. incense was stronger than the others
